FPM Journal Club with guest host Dr Amy Rogers

Thursday 22 May 2025
12:00 - 13:00

In the week of International Clinical Trials Day, we will be welcoming guest host Dr Amy Rogers for the next session of Journal Club. She has chosen to review:

‘A secondary qualitative analysis of stakeholder views about participant recruitment, retention, and adherence in decentralised clinical trials (DCTs)’ by Coyle et al. (2022).

Read the study here.

Dr Amy Rogers is one of the lead authors of this paper, which examines participant engagement in decentralised clinical trials (DCTs). The study presents a secondary analysis of stakeholder interviews, exploring factors influencing engagement with a focus on recruitment, retention, adherence, and patient and public involvement (PPI). Three key themes affecting engagement were developed: perceived value, burden, and trust. The research emphasizes that PPI is essential for optimizing participant engagement in DCTs.
