Essential Leadership Skills for Pharmaceutical Physicians: Becoming an authentic leader

Thursday 16 July 2020
09:30 -12:30

Pharmaceutical physicians often work with people in teams who have different skills, experiences and backgrounds to them. Exploring and developing an authentic leadership style can help to build trust and respect within the teams that they work with. This creates an environment which makes it easier to lead.

What is authentic leadership?

Authentic leadership is a management style where leaders are open, honest and genuine in their approach. They are aware of what is important to them and express this to build and maintain trust and promote good relationships with their people.

Authentic leadership is a management style in which leaders are genuine, self-aware, and transparent. An authentic leader is able to inspire loyalty and trust in her employees by consistently displaying who she really is as a person, and how she feels about her employees’ performance. Authentic leadership is the single strongest predictor of an employee’s job satisfaction.

What to expect

The online workshop will be very practical, with a number of personal and interactive exercises.

The workshop will help you to:

  • explore how being self-aware and transparent can build trust; and
  • consider behaviours and habits that will ultimately improve your team’s productivity.

By the end of the workshop, you’ll be better able to:

  • recognise your own values, strengths and limitations that will inform your leadership style;
  • identify the behaviours that you need to build an authentic leadership style; and
  • develop open and honest relationships with your team.

Who should attend?

This training is designed to be useful to all pharmaceutical physicians who are aspiring or established leaders. The concept of authentic leadership promotes an ethical and positive approach, so attendees should have this mindset from the outset.
