The Faculty of Pharmaceutical Medicine (FPM) is a charity and professional membership body of 1600 members in 39 countries. Founded in 1989, we are a Faculty of the Royal Colleges of Physicians of the UK.
Over the course of my career, I have been able to gain experience in areas important for Pharmaceutical Medicine: I have been a member of the first Swiss Association in Pharmaceutical Medicine SwAPP5 since its inauguration 1996 and was a board member for 22 years. Together with a colleague from the Basel University I have been organising the annual Swiss Symposium in Pharmaceutical Medicine for over 25 years.
In IFAPP, I have been a member of various Working Groups (Communication, Education and Certification, Ethics, External Affairs) and, in 2018, I was elected to be IFAPP’s Treasurer and therefore a member of the IFAPP Board of Officers.
What Pharmaceutical Medicine means to me?
In my opinion, continued training and education in Pharmaceutical Medicine goes beyond the mandatory learning required of professionals working in the field of developing medicines. Regular networking with colleagues around the globe and exchanging information are an absolute MUST, but should also be enjoyable. Platforms for learning and knowledge exchange as in IFAPP or the Faculty of Pharmaceutical Medicine are of vital importance for all colleagues involved in the development of medicines.
