Following a very close election, FPM is pleased to announce that the next Vice-President of FPM will be Dr Sheuli Porkess FFPM. Dr Porkess will take up office at the AGM in November 2021, for a three-year term of office, at the same time as the next President, Dr Flic Gabbay. Dr Porkess is currently chair of the FPM Policy and Communications Group.
We are also pleased to announce that the next Registrar of FPM has now been appointed and will be Dr Chris Worth, with a three-year term also commencing in November. Dr Worth has previously been Treasurer of FPM. In addition to his formal responsibilities, Dr Worth will chair the new Membership Committee.
“I’m delighted to be elected to be Vice-President of FPM. Our specialty of Pharmaceutical Medicine, with FPM members’ work across the breadth of pharmaceutical medicine, is more important than ever before. We make a big difference to people and patients round the world but, in order to grow that contribution further, we need to ensure that FPM members are supported across their careers and ensure that our specialty is recognised externally. I look forward to working with the President, Chief Executive, FPM members, staff and our stakeholders to support members and advance pharmaceutical medicine.”
“I am genuinely delighted to be taking up the post of Registrar of FPM later in 2021, and to actively contribute to the Board’s work under our new President and Vice-President. I’ve been fortunate to have worked with the Board in the past as Treasurer (2013-2019) and will especially relish this new challenge. The Board is very keen to increase membership numbers, together with the benefits and services provided to all members, and I intend to be leading in this work. I look forward to further meeting many colleagues (new and old) in the years ahead.”
“It is with great pleasure that I welcome the election of Sheuli as the next Vice-President and appointment of Chris as Registrar in 2021. I have worked with them both closely on various FPM projects over the last few years, and their enthusiasm for our specialty and professionalism will be an asset to the Board and FPM more widely. Sheuli has already made her mark in continuing the growth and impact of our policy and communications work and I’m sure she will bring this dynamism to the role of Vice-President. Chris has been an assured and enthusiastic Treasurer and I am very excited to see how the Membership Committee and this vital workstream will develop with him at the helm.”
