“I’m so pleased to take up the Chair of Policy and Communication at the FPM. During the tumultuous years of Brexit and covid-19, I like many others have found an anchor in the FPM. Pharmaceutical medicine plays a crucial role in global health and the FPM continues to help ensure effective drugs are delivered for all patient groups. I am excited to build on this work as well as bringing my own vision for further inclusion and diversity.”

Dr Allyah Abbas-Hanif is a clinical scientist and cardiology physician, with an interest in maternal and women’s health. Allyah has over a decade of proficiency in clinical development both in academia and industry. She trained at the University of Birmingham and Yale University and is an Honorary Senior Lecturer in the Department of Primary Care & Public Health at Imperial College London.

Allyah is involved in driving policy and strategy on committees including co-chairing the ABPI Maternal Health Project Group and active membership of FPM’s Paediatric and Pregnancy Expert Group.

Allyah supports several philanthropic projects, she has a led cardiology and emergency medical relief projects for displaced people for international NGOs, the Syrian American Medical Society and MedGlobal.
