Pharmaceutical Medicine Specialty Training

Pharmaceutical Medicine Specialty Training (PMST) is a comprehensive four year specialty training programme and is offered exclusively by FPM. The purpose of PMST is to produce pharmaceutical physicians who are equipped with specialist knowledge and capabilities to practise to the highest ethical and professional standards, for the benefit and safety of patients, in the development and maintenance of medicines.

Participants are expected to maintain an e-portfolio, and must carry out relevant workplace-based assessments throughout their PMST journey. The curriculum is tailored to meet the demands of the pharmaceutical sector and regulatory landscape, ensuring trainees are well-prepared for the challenges of the field.

On successful completion of the programme, trainees achieve the highly coveted position of becoming a Specialist Registrant in Pharmaceutical Medicine with the General Medical Council, an achievement that they can have formally recognised at an FPM Annual Awards ceremony.
