FPM member sought to join the BMA Medical Academic Staff Committee
We would like to invite applications from FPM members of all grades to join the BMA Medical Academic Staff Committee (MASC). FPM has a long-standing relationship with the committee, which has been beneficial to both parties, and we wish to continue and foster this relationship.
Please visit the MASC website for more details of the work of the committee.
The ideal candidate would be an experienced pharmaceutical physician, who is currently, or who has until recently, been involved with medical research, either in an academic or commercial environment. A candidate with a particular interest in training, who has perhaps completed pharmaceutical medicine training or is an educational supervisor, would be strongly considered. It is desirable, but not essential, that the candidate be a BMA member.
The terms of reference of MASC are:
The medical academic staff committee (MASC) shall meet to consider and act upon all matters of concern to medically qualified personnel holding contracts of employment (including honorary contracts) from one or more of the following organisations: a university, a medical school, the Medical Research Council, other institutions engaged in medical research.
There are four meetings a year plus a conference, with the conference and two of the committee meetings being face to face or at least hybrid. There may also be some work between meetings.
Although the pharmaceutical physician selected does not formally represent the FPM on the MASC and will not be bound by FPM governance, it would be beneficial to all parties if the member did agree to feed back periodically to the FPM Policy and Communications Group (PCG) and Board of Trustees, to raise any relevant or important issues.
Please contact info.masc@bma.org.uk if you would like more information or wish to speak to the clerk or chair about the role.
If you wish to be considered, please send your CV and a short covering note (300 words max) outlining your interest in the role to fpm@fpm.org.uk. The selection panel will include an FPM Board Trustee and member of the PCG.
This vacancy has expired.
